Reports to: Director - Heavy Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering

Overall Job Responsibilitv/Task:
To manage the South African office within all disciplines - for both local and Australian clients and to ensure that budget revenues and returns for the office are achieved or exceeded. In running the office ensuring that work, employment practices etc are to meet all of the requirements and laws applicable to operating a business in South Africa
"    To oversee the running of the SA office requirements generally within the Mining/Heavy Industrial discipline, including the management and supervision of personnel reporting to the position and ensure the continual viability of the SA office.
"    Undertake design and super-vision activities as demands dictate. All design work shall be carried out in accordance with company quality system
"    To oversee and liaise with clients with an emphasis in the Mining/Heavy Industrial discipline, both locally and internationally to ensure -
"    The company takes advantage of all new business opportunities.
"    The clients are satisfied with the service delivery of the division.
"    The building of strong relationships that strengthen working relationships between all parties.
"    To coordinate with the Director Heavy Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering to ensure there are sufficient resources available both in SA and the Australian office to undertake any project demand and that the SA resources are efficiently and effectively deployed .
"    Coordinate with the Manager-Mechanical Engineering in HO in Australia on a specific project basis to ensure that sufficient resources are being maintained so that the resources in HO are being efficiently and effectively deployed on projects emanating from SA
"    To jointly prepare with the Director Heavy Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering in the discipline planning and the setting of annual budget and profit targets for the SA office and engage with HO personnel as necessary to assist in the reporting and achievement of these budgets.
"    The preparation and review of all project proposals that are submitted by SA to ensure they meet all company's and clients' expectations. All proposals shall be reviewed by the Director Heavy Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a nominated alternative.
"    Assist the Director of Heavy Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or nominated alternative, in the preparation of invoices, as required, at the required intervals and at a timetable that meets company's overall invoicing requirements.
"    Supervise and manage personnel within SA in accordance with all published HO policies and all relevant South African policies and laws  related to protecting the rights of employees and the company in the work place.
"    Work with the Director Heavy Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering to ensure that appropriate skill levels are employed within SA to meet project requirements and that all SA personnel are given the opportunity to enhance their skills by implementing a suitable personnel training schemes based on the company's quality system.
"    To manage the Heavy Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering discipline project design review process in accordance with the company's quality system.
"    In the absence of the Director - Heavy Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering coordinate with the Director structural/civil Engineering and/or the Manager Heavy Industrial/Mechanical Engineering as required.
"    Any coordination activities with the Manager - Electrical Engineering shall be maintained through the Director Structural/civil Engineering and/or the Manager (s) Heavy Industrial/Mechanical Engineering.
"    Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the company and ensure adherence to the company's quality system.
"    Adhere to the company OHS Policy and all relevant South African policies, contributing to the continual improvement of safe work practices where appropriate.
All Managers and Supervisors shall be responsible for:
"    Implementation of this policy;
"    Making regular assessments of OHS performance;
"    Providing information, training and super-vision for all employees in the correct use of plant, equipment and substances used throughout the company;
"    Ensuring all work practices are periodically revised and consistent with company health and safety objectives.
"    Ensure all personnel are properly inducted into the company and that they adhere to the methods and management practices as set out within company's quality system.
