Senior Proposal Engineer - SMD600


Goals/Mission
Tendering is a key area in the business of a projects company. The employee needs to manage the process of submitting accurate and competitive tenders (quotes) on time, every time. Interfacing with both internal and external suppliers and clients are ongoing.

Working Partners/Contacts
Will be able to effectively communicate and coordinate with the following contributors:
Internal contacts:
* Engineering, Commercial, Procurement, Commodity managers.
* SE, and various M and H BU's both local and abroad.

External Contacts:
* Clients and prospective clients
* Consultants
* Contractors and sub contractors
* Equipment and material Suppliers

Tasks
The candidate is responsible for, including but not limited to-, the following:
* Manage the Tender process for a given project
* Arrange the receipt of Tender Documents
* Evaluate tender Documents
* Perform a Bid No-Bid Process
* Manage RFQ Processes
* Calculate, compile and check complete tender pricing
* Compilation of tender document and submission
* Submit tender for PTD approval
* Submit tender to client
* QA & Safety as well as OHSA requirements in own environment
* Company Tender and administrative system compliance

Education
Electrical, Mechanical or Civil NDIP / BTech or equal technical qualification.
Formal Electrical / Mechanical training in the Substation construction environment.

Knowledge/Languages
* Portuguese speaking will be an advantage due to tender focus in Mozambique and Angola.
* In order to add value to the tender process, the candidate must have a good understanding of the power system, its workings as well as the primary, secondary and civil components thereof.
* Computer literacy, especially in MS Excel which we use for all our costing functions. Confident in MS word. Can produce a Gant Chart from first principles in MS Projects for each Bid Prepared.
* Exposure to Contract Law wrt Turn Key and construction Projects Must be able to perform under immense time pressure with regards to tender closing cut off dates.

Experience
* 10 years in High Voltage and Medium Voltage Transmission and Distribution Industry
* At least 6 years experience either project management, engineering or tendering in all the facets of Indoor and Outdoor HV & MV Substations as well as High and Medium Voltage Overhead lines.
